to find a residential address. I would like to find a business or organization address. I have questions and would like some answers. I would like to return to the instruction page. I would like to go to the city's Home Page. |
ATTENTION MONTICELLO PROPERTY OWNER/RENTER:
YOUR
STREET ADDRESS MAY BE CHANGING!
On
February 14, 2007, the Monticello City Council passed Resolution 2007-1,
designed to improve public safety and convenience by standardizing all
street names and addresses. The resolution calls for a comprehensive
review of all existing street
names and addresses, and makes several changes that may affect the
street address of your house or business. These changes may include one
or more of the following:
The City plans to notify utility companies of any address changes.
However, you may need to notify other companies that may require a
physical address such as your insurance, bank, etc.
ACTION REQUIRED:
City
Code requires that the owners, occupants or agents of all houses or
other buildings in Monticello place or cause to be placed the correct
address on their house or other building within thirty (30) days after
the assignment and notification of the number. Accordingly,
please make sure that your
correct address is displayed on your home or business by March 31, 2007.
Keep
in mind that address numbers must be at least three inches (3”) in
height, made of a durable and clearly visible material and conspicuously
placed so that they can be seen plainly from the street. If your house
or building is more than fifty feet (50’) from the street, the numbers
must appear near the walk, driveway or entrance, so as to be seen easily
from the street.
We
appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we make this transition
to standardized streets and addresses. We know it will take some getting
used to and that it will cause some amount of cost and inconvenience.
However, we feel it will not only immediately improve public safety and
convenience in finding addresses around town, but it will also establish
a consistent pattern to follow for all future addressing requirements.
Sincerely,
MONTICELLO CITY COUNCIL
P.S.
You may have noticed that new street signs have been put up, or will be
put up, as part of this project. These were made possible in part from a
grant from San Juan County Economic Development and Visitor Services,
for which we are thankful. We hope you find the new signs helpful and
easier to read.
