Blue Mountain Triathlon
24th Annual
Saturday March 7, 2009
Monticello, Utah
Triathletes come from throughout the four corners to test their skills and
endurance against other competitors who have trained for months for this
competition. There are many others who are competing against themselves
and gain the satisfaction of completing the twenty-seven mile trial. Three member teams are also a popular alternative and attract many
people to one of the first endurance events of the year.
This event is unique in respect to most other triathlons. It starts off by
replacing the traditional swimming event with a four mile cross country ski
starting at an elevation of approximately 8400 feet. After the cross country
skiing event the triathlon becomes more traditional as the participants bike for
eighteen miles and then finish with a five mile run.
