Sanitation

On snowy days trash cans should be set out in the morning before 7am, instead of the night before, to prevent the snowplow from knocking them over.

SCHEDULED TRASH DAYS ARE MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, and FRIDAY

Please follow these trash guidelines: Trash pickup starts at 7:00 AM

1. On your collection day, place your container at the end of your driveway, with the handle facing your house. Be sure the container is within two (2) feet of the curb and at least one (1) foot from obstructions such as lampposts, mailboxes, vehicles, fences etc...

2. If you have more than one trash can, make sure there is at least one (1) foot of space between them.

3. Garbage left on the ground around trash cans will not be picked up. The truck will only pick up Monticello City-provided trash cans.

4. Do not overfill the trash can as garbage will fall out before the can is dumped. We will not be responsible for trash that has fallen out.

5. During collection days, do not park vehicles on the street near containers.

6. Use your container for such items: Paper, cans, garbage, and other normal household trash; cardboard boxes (flattened), grass, leaves, and small hedges, bush and yard trimmings as long as they are BAGGED.

7. DO NOT use your container for anything that will not allow the container lid to close such as tree limbs and trimmings over 4 feet tall or 4 inches in diameter, flammable items or hot ashes, un-bagged animal waste, concrete, dirt, plaster, or any other construction or demolition debris. If thrown in trash can it will not be picked up.

8. Missed residential trash cans will not be picked up if the problem is within residents' control.

9. Late trash for residents will only be picked up if the fault is with the city.

Dumpsters

1. Dumpsters will not be supplied for construction debris.

2. Will Calls will be collected within a week.

3. Please ensure dumpster lids are closed at all times.

4. We do not provide dumpsters for residential homes
